Driving Lessons Across East Devon and Somerset
Learning to drive is about much more than preparing for a test. At Training Wheelz, our driving lessons across Exeter, East Devon and Somerset are calm, structured and tailored to the individual.
Whether you're a complete beginner, returning after a break, feeling nervous about driving or looking for a new instructor, we'll help you develop confidence at your own pace while continuing to challenge you as your skills improve.
Our aim is simple: to help you become a safe, confident and independent driver with the judgement and skills you need long after you've passed your test.
Who We Help
Our driving lessons are suitable for complete beginners, nervous or anxious drivers, people returning to driving after a break, and learners who are looking for a new instructor after an unsuccessful test or a previous learning experience that hasn't worked for them.
We'll start from where you are now, agree what you need to work on and help you make steady progress. Lessons are challenging when they need to be, but you'll never be pushed into situations before you're ready.
Manual & Automatic Driving Lessons
We offer manual and automatic driving lessons, with male and female instructors available in some areas. Availability varies depending on where you live, so we'll help you find the most suitable instructor and lesson option for your area.
Whichever option you choose, you'll receive calm, structured lessons focused on developing your understanding, decision-making and confidence — not simply learning what to do on a driving test.
Learning to Drive, Not Just Pass a Test
Passing your driving test is an important milestone, but it isn't the only goal. We want you to understand what is happening around you, think ahead and make safe decisions for yourself.
Your instructor will work with you to agree goals for your lessons, give you opportunities to take increasing responsibility and encourage you to reflect on what went well and what you could do differently. As your skills develop, you'll experience a wider range of roads and driving situations so that you can become less reliant on your instructor.
The aim is to prepare you for independent driving — including the roads and situations you'll encounter after you've passed your test.
See Your Progress Between Lessons
Learning doesn't stop when the lesson ends. Our pupil app helps you keep track of your progress, lesson payments and development, while our theory test support gives you extra help with preparing for the theory test.
You'll be able to see how you're progressing, understand what you're working towards and play an active part in your own learning.

About your lessons

Lessons are structured but not rigid. If something is not working, you will try a different approach.
We want you to leave each lesson feeling like you have actually moved forward, not just ticked off another hour.
