At Training Wheelz, our owners Christie and Kevin have both completed additional training specific to training driving instructors.
Not every provider can say that, and it makes a real difference to the quality of support you receive.

How does qualifying work?
To become a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), you need to pass three qualifying tests.

Part 1: Theory & Hazard Perception
A computer-based test covering road safety, traffic signs and driving law, plus a hazard perception section. It is similar to the standard learner theory test but set at a higher level.

Part 2: Advanced Driving Test
An advanced driving test that assesses your own driving ability to a professional standard. We work with you to get your driving to the required level before you sit this test.

Part 3: Instructional Ability Test
The final test assesses your ability to actually teach. An examiner observes you delivering a lesson and evaluates your technique, communication, and approach. This is where the experience Christie and Kevin have built as instructor trainers makes a real difference.
Can I start earning before I have fully qualified?
Yes. Once you have passed Parts 1 and 2, you can apply for a trainee licence that allows you to start teaching learner drivers under supervision while you complete your Part 3 training. You begin building real experience and start earning back some of your costs.
Our integrated training approach

You do not need to wait for a Part 1 pass before beginning Part 2 work, or a Part 2 pass before preparing for Part 3.
